Rozpiętość rozkładu objętości erytrocytów — nowy marker zaostrzenia niewydolności krążenia u pacjentów z niedoczynnością tarczycy po leczeniu jodem promieniotwórczym

Abstract: Subclinical hypothyroidism or high-normal levels of TSH did not affect RDW in a significant manner in the studied population. Our results demonstrates that overt hypothyroidism may contribute to deterioration of CHF reflected in changes of RDW value. < p > < /p >.

“…We noticed significant improvement of MCV and MCH in all patients. Although previous studies have shown a correlation between RDW and thyroid status reflected by a significant increase in RDW in the hypothyroid state, we failed to find a noticeable fluctuations of RDW during the transition from hyperthyroidism to euthyroid state (26,27). The study by Gianoukakis et al reported correction of anaemia of unknown origin in 89% of hyperthyroid patients due to GD following antithyroid therapy and in none with anaemia of other than hyperthyroidismrelated causes (8).…”

“…Thus, when a decrease in RDW-CW occurs, there is evidence of an improvement in iron balance and better iron supply, enabling the formation of RBCs of normal volume, reflecting more effective erythropoiesis. In our previous study on patients with heart failure and hypothyroidism after radioiodine therapy, there was a strong correlation between TSH levels and RDW 22 . Moreover, RDW has been found to correlate positively with TSH levels in a healthy population and has been suggested by Aktas et al .…”

“…However, 12 weeks later, increased iron absorption will have corrected the iron parameters, the erythron is expanded, and a new steady state is reached with higher erythrocyte turnover and lower hepcidin. This may be reflected by the observed increase in RDW-CV concentration, which is a sensitive marker of Fe homeostasis 21,22 .…”

“…They noted significantly positive correlation between TSH and hepcidin, ferritin, and Fe concentration [34]. In the study by Czarnywojtek et al, a significant positive correlation between TSH and RDW was noted in hypothyroid patients [13].…”
