Compared to wired-infrastructure dependent networks, Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are more vulnerable to attacks. Because of their dynamic topology and the absence of centralized network administration, MANETs face more security threats than centralized networks. Initial literature review on MANETs' security issues indicates that while there have been attempts to identify security threats and solutions on MANETs, comprehensive reviews are very little or lacking. In an attempt to address this gap, this article offers an up-to-date literature on security issues and solutions in MANETs. By limiting the review to 21 st Century research on this topic, this review paper is able to offer a comprehensive presentation of the issues concerning security in MANETs.

MANETs are made up of nodes that uses routing protocols to transfer a packet from source to sink through store-and-forward method. These packets are sent through each intermediate nodes therefore transferring the data packets from source to sink is very expensive process. Traditional protocols also ignore energy usage in nodes when choosing route from source to sink node. Therefore, the need for an optimized path for communication amongst node has attracted the use of approaches like Ant-Colony Optimization (ACO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). In this research work, we are proposing ahybrid nature-inspired optimization technique based on ACO and PSO named as AOMDV-ACOPSO to enhance the performance of MANET routing. AOMDV is used to find the multiple data transfer paths from source to destination, where as hybrid ACO-PSO technique is used to select the best or optimum path from the multiple routes generated by the AOMDV. The performance of the suggested approach is analyzed and evaluate against the existing approaches in terms of Packet delivery ratio (PDR), energy consumption (EC), End to End(E2E) delay and throughput. Simulation results are generated by the NS2.35 and findings reveal that the proposed approach perform superior when compared to the existing techniques like AODV, AOMDV, ACO-AOMDV and PSO-AOMDV.

The usage of the Internet increases significantly especially regards COVID-19. The lifestyle relies of the networks and the Internet to do all tasks such as job, meetings, and education. The mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a type of wireless network that nodes can communicate without the occurrence of an administration point. Nodes in MANET can join and leave the network frequently, so the scenario of networks merging and partitioning can occur. In this study, the detection of Denial of Service (DoS) attack which degrades the performance of the network will be illustrated in the situation of network partitioning. The detection will be based on MrDR method and puzzle map method, the puzzle concept will help to complete the network partitioning and avoid the DoS attack. The proposed method is simulated using NS2 and the results shows the effectiveness of the puzzle map method to increase the performance of network during the partitioning scenario.
