La investigación de accidentes, incidentes y enfermedades laborales corresponde a uno de los puntos más importantes dentro de la ejecución del Sistema de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo. Para el perfeccionamiento del presente artículo, se tuvo como objetivo identificar cuáles son las metodologías más empleadas en las organizaciones para la investigación de accidentes, incidentes y enfermedades laborales, aplicables en algunos sectores económicos. Se realizó una búsqueda en bases de datos como Scopus, Science Direct, eBook Collection (EBSCOhost) y SciELO, entre otras. Teniendo en cuenta como criterios de exclusión: revisiones de literatura, disertaciones, validaciones de instrumentos y textos publicados antes del 2017. Fueron seleccionados 16 documentos en la presente revisión. De acuerdo con los resultados evidenciados se identificó que las metodologías más implementadas son: HFACS (25%), FTA (18,7 %), MORT (18,7 %), Tripod Beta (12,5 %), RCA (12,5 %), y HSE (12,5 %).

Truck accidents are a prevalent global issue resulting in substantial economic losses and human lives. One of the principal contributing factors to these accidents is driver error. While analysing human error, it is important to thoroughly examine the truck’s condition, the drivers, external circumstances, the trucking company, and regulatory factors. Therefore, this study aimed to illustrate the application of HFACS (Human Factor Classification System) to examine the causal factors behind the unsafe behaviors of drivers and the resulting accident consequences. Bayesian Network (BN) analysis was adopted to discern the relationships between failure modes within the HFACS framework. The result showed that driver violations had the most significant influence on fatalities and multiple-vehicle accidents. Furthermore, the backward inference with BN showed that the mechanical system malfunction significantly impacts driver operating error. The result of this analysis is valuable for regulators and trucking companies striving to mitigate the occurrence of truck accidents proactively.

Identifying the causes of accidents is essential for learning lessons and preventing similar accidents. Safety capability factors cannot be ignored when considering the causes of accidents. Therefore, safety capability is an important perspective to develop a cause analysis framework. This study focuses on a cause analysis framework based on safety capability in the 24Model. First, this study introduces the safety capability in the 24Model and elaborates on the five safety capability dimensions. Second, a 24Model‐based causal analysis framework from a safety capability perspective and its application process is proposed. Third, the Tianjiayi explosion accident is analyzed using the proposed framework. In this accident, fourteen safety capability factors in four categories: safety knowledge, safety awareness, safety habits, and safety psychology are identified and analyzed. The case study provides a critical process demonstration for analyzing safety capability factors and validates the usability of the proposed framework. Additionally, the strengths of the framework and the limitations of the study are discussed. In the future, this framework can facilitate the development of a safety capability factor database and data‐driven safety management approaches.
