Roughness Based Analysis of the Influence of Tool Coating in the Dry Turning of UNS R56400 Ti Alloy

Abstract: Light alloys, such as Aluminium or Titanium based alloys are frequently used in the aircraft industry. In the particular case of Ti alloys, they are usually commonly turned for obtaining strategic airships parts under rigorous quality requirements, in order guarantee the functionality of the workpiece design conditions. So, the analysis of the finishing quality of the turned pieces is essential in the quality control process. In this paper a study of the finishing quality of dry turned UNS R56400 Ti alloy has … Show more

“…The titanium alloys, and especially Ti6Al4V is considered a strategic material for the global market of the aerospace industry. In recent years, an important industrial interest in the use of this type of alloy has favored a significant increase in global consumption [9,10]. Due to the tolerance requirements of the aerospace industry, and the large volume of developed components with this type of materials, machining processes require accurate assembly conditions favoring the achievement of optimal dimensional and geometrical characteristics and excellent biocompatibility [11] for their use in work conditions.…”
