Rough Best-Worst Method for Supplier Selection in Biofuel Companies based on Green criteria

Abstract: This paper concerns with the integration of rough set theory with the Best Worst method to evaluate information system performance within supplier selection problem of biofuel companies. First, a set of main criteria and sub-criteria are collected and then to include uncertainty in decision making, rough set theory is employed. The rough best worst method is applied for weighing and supplier evaluation with respect to information system performance and environmental impacts. Further, a case study is conducted … Show more

“…According to the fuzzy concept (e.g., [ 12 18 ]), the uncertain data are represented by fuzzy sets and their membership functions that must be known in advance as a part of the problem itself. According to the rough concept [ 7 , 19 21 ], the uncertain data are represented by rough sets and/or rough functions that use the lower and upper approximations for the rough objective and constraints that must be known in advance as a part of the problem itself. Finally, according to the interval concept, the uncertain coefficients are represented as closed intervals that are supposed to be known in advance as a part of the problem itself.…”

“…Extensive MCDM methods have been proposed for supplier selection, like the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), analytic network process (ANP), data envelopment analysis (DEA), fuzzy set theory, genetic algorithm (GA), mathematical programming, technique order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), and so forth and their hybrids [16][17][18][19].…”

“…Rough set is found to be extremely suitable for classifying the air pollutant index in Malaysia and Singapore (Wibowo et al, 2018). Furthermore, the theory has been used to various uncertainty handling, and multicriteria decision-making applications (Kazemitash et al, 2021;Naouali et al, 2020;Pal et al, 2018;Saha et al, 2010;Suresh et al, 2012;Tang et al, 2020;Wang & Zhang, 2014;Ye et al, 2021). In our present study, we have used rough set-based "if-then" rules and inverse-decision rules for air-quality prediction and interpreting/explaining the decision-making process, respectively.…”
