Rotor stability performances of a grid connected type-1 wind turbine generator

Abstract: In this paper, rotor stability performance details of a grid connected type-1 wind turbine generator (WTG) system are presented. Small-signal and transient stability analyses are carried out including the models of the turbine-generator shaft system to show that the torsional modes natural to the shaft system gets excited only when the system exhibits rotor speed instability.
