“…The genus Hypoestes (Acanthaceae) comprises 40 species of woody-based evergreen perennial shrubs and subshrubs . Apart from being used for ornamental purposes due to their attractive flowers and aesthetic appeal, different ethnic groups use the various parts of Hypoestes plants for the treatment of ailments that include gonorrhea, hepatitis, high blood pressure, worm infestations, and fungal, skin, chest, and heart diseases.
