ROPstat: A general statistical package useful for conducting person-oriented analysis

Abstract: Abstract:ROPstat is a wide scope statistical program package which offers specialties in three domains: 1) robust techniques, 2) ordinal analyses, and 3) pattern and person oriented methods. Many of them are not available in other common statistical softwares. In the present paper, first the general features and the main structure of ROPstat are briefly outlined, followed by a more detailed summary of pattern-oriented methods (detecting and imputing missing values, residual case identification, different types… Show more

“…This method capitalizes on existing structure in the data and may therefore be more appropriate for gender and cultural comparisons than imposing structure on data without consideration of existing structure in that data. Person oriented analyses using Ropstat (Vargha, Torma and Bergman, 2014) and the affective profiles approach (Garcia & MacDonald, working paper) was used on a subset of individuals (100 Swedes and 92 Iranians) to inspect cultural differences in emotional expression.…”

“…We estimated the model parameters using the 'nlme' package (Pinheiro et al, 2011), performed model averaging with the package 'MuMIn' (Barton 2013) and applied the 'graphics' package for graphical outputs in R 3.1.2 (R Core Team, 2014). Some preliminary statistics and the interdependence of explanatory variables were tested by the software ROPstat (Vargha et al, 2015).…”

“…Predictors of EDs were tested with hierarchical binary regression analysis with the enter method. Analyses were performed with the IBM SPSS 23.0 (IBM Corporation, 2015) and the ROPstat (Vargha et al, 2015) statistical packages.…”
