Roots of Mini-Cutting of Clones of Sequoia Sempervirens in Different Seasons of the Year

Abstract: The rooting process of sequoia minicuttings presents clonal infl uence. The average rooting is over 85% in all seasons. The rooting of minicuttings occurs between 50 and 70 days. It is indicated the presence of 90 days of minicuttings in the rooting environment.

“…This rooting result can be considered low considering other works with the species, usually with cuttings or mini-cuttings kept in a greenhouse. Pereira et al (2018) found rooting over 85% in all seasons of the year. Navroski et al (2015) achieved rooting of almost 80% using 4,000 mg L -1 of AIA (indole-3-acetic acid).…”

“…According to Ragonezi et al (2010) the majority of works with conifer rooting achieve better results with higher temperatures during the day (25-27 ºC) and lower during the night (15-18 ºC). Testing the rooting of Sequoia sempervirens in all seasons of the year, Pereira et al (2018) found rooting higher than 85% in all seasons, with average temperatures ranging from 15 to 26 ºC.…”

“…The majority of studies with conifer rooting achieve better results with lower temperatures during the night (15-18 ºC) and higher during the day (25-27 ºC). Working with the rooting in the seasons of the year in Sequoia sempervirens, Pereira et al (2018) got rooting higher than 85% in all seasons, with humidity greater than 80% and average temperatures ranging from 15 to 26 ºC.…”
