Root Coverage Using the Subepithelial Connective Tissue Graft or the Acellular Dermal Matrix for the Treatment of Gingival Recession: A Clinical Study

Abstract: Objective: This study aims to evaluate periodontal clinical conditions after treatment for gingival recession (GR) using subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) and acellular dermal matrix (ADM). Methods:Ten patients with Miller's Class I and II recessions that had been treated with SCTG or ADM at the Periodontics Outpatient Department at Universitas Indonesia were selected for this study. The pre-operative data for GR, clinical attachment levels (CAL), and attached gingiva (AG) were retrieved from the pa… Show more

“…It is reported that CAF is more Allogenic Acellular Dermal Matrix and Xenogeneic Dermal Matrix as CTG Halim, Sulijaya effective than TUN when it comes to root coverage, when the same grafts were used in both techniques, regardless of its origin. [40][41][42] Several systematic reviews have assessed the effectiveness of CTG substitutes; however, to our knowledge, most system-atic reviews consist of studies with less than a year of followup. 35,43,44 All the studies reported that both XDM and AADM are suitable alternatives with promising short-term results.…”

“…Buti J 18 et al in 2013 concluded that CAF with CTG ranked highest in effectiveness for recession reduction and CAL gain. Shula et al 19 and Karin Jespen 20 et al in 2017 stated that CAF+CTG and CAF + CMX provided better root coverage in 5 years and 3 years respectively. Improvement's in recession depth was noted over a period of 20 years by Pini Prato 21 in 2018 when treated with CAF.…”
