Romantik İlişkide Kendini Açma Düzeyi İle Kıskançlıkta Gösterilen İletişim Tepkileri Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between university students' levels of self-disclosure in their romantic relationships and their communication reactions in jealousy. The study group consists of 260 people, 81 males, and 179 females. Personal Information Form, Self-Disclosure in Romantic Relationship Scale, and Communication Reactions in the Face of Jealousy Scale were used to collect data. According to the findings, there is a positive and significant relationship between the total score and sub-dimensions scores of university students' levels of self-disclosure in romantic relationships and the scores of constructive communication responses in jealousy. A negative and significant relationship was found between the total score of self-disclosure in romantic relationships, the scores of openness, affect, and communication sub-dimensions, and the scores of destructiveavoidant communication reactions. There is no significant relationship between the total score of the level of selfdisclosure in romantic relationship, openness and sexual intimacy sub-dimensions and competitor-oriented communication reactions. As communication and affect subdimensions scores increase, rival-oriented communication responses scores decrease. Communication responses in jealousy together predicted 19% of the change in selfdisclosure in romantic relationships. The results obtained from the research were discussed in the light of the literature and suggestions for future studies were presented.
