Abstract: Acute lung injury (ALI) and its severe form, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), present life-threatening conditions characterized by inflammation and endothelial injury, leading to increased vascular permeability and lung edema. Key players in the pathogenesis and resolution of ALI are macrophages (Mφs) and endothelial cells (ECs).
