“…Current literature evidence for repair of the ascending TAA is scarce for ruptured aortic arch TAA, whereas open repair remains the gold standard. Hybrid procedures, particularly the "frozen elephant trunk" procedure, 46,47 have been recommended as well and are gaining momentum, especially for cases with ascending aorta involvement. Up to 34.5% of early mortality has been reported for open repair, 48,49 whereas early mortality rates of 3.2% to 8% have been reported for hybrid repair.…”

“…1,3 It has been expanded to dTAA from chronic aortic dissection. 4 These 2 case presentations likely represent a continuous expansion of the proximal dTAA due to persistent blood flow into the false lumen proximally and distally after B-SAFER procedure. Case 1 had persistent proximal flow from the dissected left subclavian artery into the false lumen of the aorta, which was treated twice with stent grafts.…”

“…30,31 In patients with ATAAD involving the proximal descending thoracic aorta, a graftbased elephant trunk procedure or an endoprosthesis-based frozen elephant trunk may be performed. 32,33 These repairs are then completed with endovascular placement of endoprosthesis within the descending thoracic aorta. Endovascular repair of the ascending aorta and arch has been described in case reports, but there are ongoing trials investigating new devices specific for these anatomic zones.…”
