“…First, the focus on the renewable energy sector follows arguments for the usefulness of examining potentially disruptive employee behaviours in settings in which different opinions may exist about the best ways forward for organizations that compete in highly volatile and competitive markets (De Clercq & Pereira, 2019;Morrison, 2011). In addition, stimulating employee behaviours that resolve organizational problem areas likely is important for companies in the renewable energy sector, which require creative solutions to avoid negative spillover effects of customer skepticism about the value of novel energy solutions, compared with more familiar solutions (Galperina & Klen, 2017;Ghiasi et al, 2019;Wadström et al, 2019). 3 The moderators under study also may have particular relevance in the renewable energy sector, because of, first, the strong work pressures that employees experience due to intense external competitive rivalry; second, the technological, operations-focused context, which could make it somewhat challenging for employees to develop informal relationships with colleagues; and third, the regulatory framework in which the sector operates, which may constrain organizations' abilities to allow high levels of flexibility in internal decision-making processes (Holburn, 2012;McPherson & Karney, 2017;Nepal et al, 2018).…”
