Background: Examining the level of physical activity in students is a vital issue as these young people are the future social elite. Methods: The research was conducted in the years 2013–2016 and comprised 5008 males and females, mean age of 20.5 ± 2.1 years, including 2237 (55.3%) students from students from Eastern European National University, Lutsk, and Ternopil State Medical University, Ukraine, as well as 2237 (44.7%) from the Visegrad countries, i.e., University of Pécs in Hungary, University in Kosice, Slovakia, University of Olomunec in the Czech Republic and the State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska, Poland. It applied a diagnostic survey—the extended version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), supplemented with original questions regarding body weight, height, self-assessment of physical fitness and amount of leisure time. Results: The comparison of students’ PA from selected European countries, members of the Visegrad group and Ukraine, is particularly vital to the latter country as it demonstrates a different level of socio-economic development. There was noted a significantly higher level of physical activity in students from the Visegrad countries than in Ukraine. Further, there was an overall lower level of physical activity in females compared to males. What was positive about the studied samples was a healthy BMI index in the majority of the male and female respondents, with a significantly higher indicator in Ukraine. Conclusions: Among the factors significantly affecting higher physical activity in both researched samples were the BMI and high self-assessment of physical fitness. There was no significant variation in the level of physical activity and the amount of leisure time, both in those studying in the Visegrad states and Ukraine.

Physical condition is one of the components of human health. Thus, students as future teachers of different specializations should be diagnosed in order to characterize their level of physical condition. The aim of the present research is to define the students' level of physical condition, to determine the factors that influence it. The research was conducted in 2017 and involved 75 students aged from 17 to 21 years old of the first and second courses of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko. According to the results of the research, most students of different faculties have an average level of physical condition. At the same time the number of students with a level above the average is greater among future teachers of physical culture. The high level of physical condition is determined in 5,7% of the representatives of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Culture. The high level of physical condition of the students of other faculties has not been recorded. It is also found out that the number of classes and physical activity of future physical training teachers is much higher than of other students. The data we have received do not differ significantly from the results of other authors and indicate the need to increase the level of physical condition and motor activity of the students by increasing the number of physical education classes for the students of different specializations.

Funds collection zebranie funduszy Summary Background. Physical activity plays an immensely significant role in the prevention and treatment of diseases that often lead to premature death. The aim of this study was to examine the relationships between physical activity of adults and determinants of their financial situation such as steady income, per capita income, savings, and indebtedness. Material and methods. The study was carried out between 2014 and 2015 in Wrocław, Poland on a group of 4332 residents aged 18 to 64 years. The respondents' habitual physical activity levels and income status were assessed with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF) and the author's own SocioEconomic Status of Working Age People Questionnaire (S-ESQ), respectively. Results. There are positive correlations between physical activity level and socioeconomic status. Steady income and per capita income are two determinants of differences in physical activity in individuals over 44 years of age. The highest level of physical activity was noted in adults with a steady income of more than USD 542 per month. respondents with savings were also more physically active than their counterparts without savings. Finally, Wrocław residents who were without debts and who were aged 18-44 years were more physically active than were financially indebted residents. Conclusions. Actions should be undertaken to enhance physical activity of those adults remaining in a poor socioeconomic situation.
