A new copolymer has been studied, which is formed by Poly(2-methoxy-5-(2-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylene-vinylene) (MEH-PPV) and poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT). The choice of these π-conjugated polymers was based on their semiconductor characters and their great applicability in electronic organic devices. The structure and vibrational and optoelectronic properties were simulated by calculations based on DFT, TD-DFT, and ZINDO. This material shows original and unique properties compared to the basic homopolymers. Thus, the obtained results reveal that this copolymer can be mixed with the (6,6)-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) to give existence to a new composite that can be used as an active layer for an organic solar cell.

Fabrication of high-performance, flexible quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) requires the reliable manufacture of a flexible transparent electrode to replace the conventional brittle indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent electrode, along with flexible substrate planarization. We deposited a transparent oxide/metal/oxide (OMO) electrode on a polymer planarization layer and co-optimized both layers. The visible transmittance of the OMO electrode on a polyethylene terephthalate substrate increased markedly. Good electron supply and injection into an electron-transporting layer were achieved using WOX/Ag/ WOX and MoOx/Ag/MoOX OMO electrodes. High-performance flexible QLEDs were fabricated from these electrodes; a QLED with a MoOX/Ag/ MoOX cathode and an SU-8 planarization layer had a current efficiency of 30.3 cd/A and luminance more than 7 × 104 cd/m2. The current efficiency was significantly higher than that of a rigid QLED with an ITO cathode and was higher than current efficiency values obtained from previously reported QLEDs that utilized the same quantum-dot and electron-transporting layer materials as our study.

In this study, spin coating was used to prepare thin films of poly (2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1, 4-phenylene vinylene) and silver (MEH-PPV/Ag) in this study. The physical characteristics of MEH-PPV/Ag thin films with various weight ratios (0.01, 0.02, 0.03, and 0.04%) were investigated by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), and thermal testing. FTIR analysis showed that there were occurrences of the polymer's predicted chemical bonds. AFM tests show that when different amounts of silver are added to a polymer matrix, the film's surface roughness (root mean square) goes up from an average of 83.51 to 511.3 nm. FE-SEM analysis showed that a pure sample of the polymer formed evenly. However, when different amounts of Ag were added, clear balls or circles formed, showing the energy of mixing between the MEH-PPV and Ag. As silver addition transformed the polymer from amorphous to polycrystalline, XRD analysis revealed both phases. In tests comparing pure MEH-PPV to MEH-PPV/Ag, the polymer containing silver showed higher thermal conductivity.
