Role of hydrostatic treatment in the formation of the structure and the properties of reaction-bonded ceramics based on mullite and zirconium dioxide

Abstract

The typical feature of VKVS for wet milling is the concentration of particles of colloidal dispersion. The concentration of these particles in amounts even of several percentage points determines more than 50% of the value of the specific surface of the solid phase.We established the ideal curve for the relative grain-size distribution of the solid phase of VKVS whihh is very different from the well-known similar curves.Deviations are possible in the relationships between the degree of approximation of the real curves for VKVS and the ideal and the factor of Pcast based on them. In relation to a range of other factors (degree of stabilization concentration during milling, etc,) even in the limits of a single type of VKVS with comparable grain size compositions, the values of Pcast may vary substantially.Ceramics based on mullite and zirconium dioxide are promising materials for designing components used in high-temperature technology owing mainly to the maintenance of high strength at elevated temperature [i].
