HERP knock-out also results in increased susceptibility to ER stress-related cell death by thapsigargin, tunicamycin, or A23187 (24). The proteasome inhibitor lactacystin accelerates cell death in HERP knock-out cells and blocks the degradation of connexin 43, Ig LC, Ig␥ LC, and Ig␥ HC, indicating that HERP is involved in delivering ERAD-targeted proteins to the proteasome (24,25).…”
