BackgroundInterstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are indispensable components of chronic respiratory diseases and global health challenges. We aimed to explore the global long-term changes in the prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of ILDs; investigate the independent effect of age, period, and cohort; and project the disease burden over the next decade.MethodsData were retrieved from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database 2019. The joinpoint regression model was used to calculate the average annual percent change (AAPC). An age–period–cohort (APC) analysis was employed to measure the independent effect of age, period, and cohort. The Bayesian age–period–cohort (BAPC) model was used to project the global epidemiological trends until 2030.ResultsFrom 1990 to 2019, the age-standardized prevalence rate (ASPR), age-standardized mortality rate (ASMR), and age-standardized disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) rate (ASDR) of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary sarcoidosis (ILD) slightly increased from 52.66 per 100,000 [95% uncertainty interval (UI) 44.49 to 61.07] to 57.62 per 100,000 (95% UI 49.42 to 65.67), from 1.76 per 100,000 (95% UI 1.41 to 2.22) to 2.17 per 100,000 (95% UI 1.5 to 2.62), and from 41.57 per 100,000 (95% UI 33.93 to 51.92) to 46.45 per 100,000 (95% UI 35.12 to 54.98), whereas the ASPR, ASMR, and ASDR of pneumoconiosis decreased. High social-demographic index (SDI) regions possessed the highest ASPR, whereas low-middle SDI regions had the highest ASMR and ASDR, followed by low-SDI regions in ILD. Middle-SDI regions reported the highest ASPR, ASMR, and ASDR in pneumoconiosis. The age effect showed that the rate ratio (RR) was high in older adults. Period effect indicated that the RR of prevalence increased over time, whereas the RR of mortality and DALYs decreased in men but increased in women. The cohort effect exhibited that the more recent birth cohort had a higher RR than the previous cohort in prevalence. We projected that ASPR, ASMR, and ASDR would stabilize with little variation over the next decade.ConclusionThe global burden of ILDs remains relatively severe, especially among older adults, in low- and middle-SDI regions. Effective measurements are expected to improve this situation.

Background Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are major cause of death all over the world killing 41 million of the 57 million deaths (72%) in 2016. According to World Health Organization (WHO) Director General the biggest decrease in NCD mortality between 2000 and 2019 globally were for chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) a 37% decline. The WHO Western Pacific Region (WPRO) made the biggest gains against CRD a 55.9% drop. We analysed CRD mortality in the WPRO comparing with other WHO regions. Methods Assessment of the risk factors was made in all WHO countries mainly in 2016. Lifestyle modifications concerning tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol in 2020. We used WHO assessment of ambient and household air pollution attributable to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) mortality. Results WPRO comprises 27 countries, 10 high-income countries (HIC) and 17 middle-income countries (MIC). A total of 52 countries in other WHO regions belong to HIC and 86 countries to MIC. No difference was found in the tobacco demand-reduction measures. Clear difference was demonstrated in the prevalence of the raised blood pressure (RBP) which was lower in the WPRO. In the WPRO HIC every fifth has RBP while in other regions it was every forth. Similar difference was observed for MIC. COPD mortality linked to air pollution was twice higher in the WPRO. It was highest in MIC. CRD management probably plays a crucial role in the decline of the observed mortality in the region since numerous WHO global, regional and national prevention and management CRD approaches and activities have been successfully initiated and implemented there. WHO Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases (GARD) was successfully initiated in Beijing in 2006. Two subsequent global GARD meetings held in Seoul [2007] and Beijing [2019] had a tremendous impact on the CRD awareness, prevention and control strategies in the region. These events have stimulated development of the national CRD programmes. Beijing’s declaration “Call for action for lung health” stressed the better management of CRD at primary healthcare level. Conclusions Better RBP control, improved prevention, diagnosis and treatment of CRD could contribute to the observed decline of premature CRD mortality in the region.

Purpose This paper aims to study the specifics of managing the risks of innovative activities during the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in entrepreneurship that is focused on the consumer market in countries with different levels of income. Design/methodology/approach The research is performed with the help of regression analysis (one-factor and multiple simple linear regression). Two samples are created for this: (1) countries with high income and (2) upper middle income and countries with lower middle income, according to the classification of World Bank GNI per capita in current USD (Atlas method). Findings It is determined that priorities of the consumer market (demand) are differentiated among countries with different levels of income. In countries with high income and upper middle income, corporate social responsibility does not determine the quality of life. Only competitiveness is a milestone during the implementation of the SDGs in entrepreneurship activities focused on the consumer market. In countries with lower middle income, neither corporate responsibility nor competitiveness is the decisive factor in managing the risks of innovative activities focused on the consumer market. Originality The originality of this research consists in a new view of competitiveness and corporate responsibility from the positions of their influence on the implementation of the SDGs entrepreneurship focused on the consumer market. Social implications Due to the practical implementation of the offered recommendations for corporate management of improving the practice of managing the risks of innovative activities focused on the consumer market, the Quality of Life Index will grow by 44.95% in countries with high income and upper middle income and by 98.69% in countries with lower middle income.
