Role of Dyslipidemia in Pathogenesis of Vascular Events Among Arctic Circle Population

Abstract: Habitation within the polar circle increases cardiovascular mortality rate and particularly increases mortality as a result of coronary events. The main reason of elevation of mortality from these diseases is a dyslipidemia which developed more among alien population residing long time in Far North. Dyslipidemia is less found among aboriginal population of Arctic Circle keeping traditional way of life and respectively it is low rate of mortality from coronary heart disease. The data showed that low rate of dys… Show more

“…However, as it turned out later, the uncoupling effect was actually observed in vitro, but at concentrations significantly higher than physiological and pharmacological. It has now been proved that the action of these hormones in vivo is not direct, but mediated by their activating influence on the hormone-sensitive triglyceride lipase of adipocytes, the uncoupling action of free fatty acids and the activation of transcription of the genes of uncoupling proteins (UCP) [45,46]. The latter effects will be discussed below in the corresponding section of this paper.…”

“…It is known that prolonged exposure of alien population in the conditions of the Arctic leads to an increase in the incidence of cardiovascular disease (Maslov et al 2014a). The incidence of hypertension among migrants in the Far North is increased with their length of stay in the Arctic, reaching a level of 61% in people who have lived in this region for over 15 years (Skavronskaya et al 2005).…”
