Abstract: Sputum microscopy is the most important tool for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in peripheral laboratories. Sodium hypochlorite concentration technique prior to sputum microscopy may improve the detection of AFB bacilli over direct Ziehl Neelsen’s staining method.
