Authentication of seafood products by means of molecular techniques has relevance for food sustainability and security, as well as international trade regulation, linked to transparency in food manufacturing. We focus on the molecular detection of the depleted European eel Anguilla anguilla , a species for which strict international trade regulations are in place since 2010, in studies conducted outside Europe. We found thirteen studies from nine countries (Canada, China, Japan, Malaysia, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and USA) for which, on average, 59 ± 28% of the 330 sequenced eel samples comprised European eel. Only China, Japan, South Korea, and USA reported the import of European eel in the years prior to sampling. The authentication of eel products demonstrates a global, in part illegal, trade in European eel, covered up by incomplete or fraudulent labelling. This calls into question the compliance with existing national and international trade regulations and its implications for food safety and sustainability.

Public procurement of goods and services is an important part of good governance. In the procurement of goods and services, a common problem that arises in the flow of globalization and the democratization process of procurement of goods and services is inefficiency, meaning that the procurement of goods and services so far has not produced competitive prices. This study aims to test and analyze the Implementation of E-Procurement on the procurement of goods and services in realizing Good Governance (Lamongan Regency Government Study). The research was conducted at the Lamongan Regency Government. The research population used primary data sources totaling 889 people and the sample results in this study were determined using the Slovin formula, so that in this study 276 samples were obtained. The data collection method used is the questionnaire method, literature study and observation with data analysis techniques using SPSS 24.0 software using validity test, reliability test, classical assumption test, simple regression test, path analysis test, and sobel test. The overall research results show that the independent variables in this study can provide an influence on the dependent variable of research with the results showing that E-Procurement can affect fraud, E-Procurement can affect good governance, and Fraud can affect good governance, but the results of testing the mediating variable Fraud is not able to mediate the relationship between E-Procurement to good governance. The implication of this research is advice to the Lamongan Regency government to provide guidance and training to its human resources because there is still a lack of skilled personnel who are able to operate the E-Procurement system. This makes good governance practices not run well.

BACKGROUNDAs in some countries TiO2 is banned while in the other its use is still possible, global food supply chain is challenged with the need to use rapid and reliable testing methods to either detect presence of TiO2 or quantify its concentration. The goal of this study was to determine the feasibility of using color, texture profile analysis, Raman microscopy, and X‐ray fluorescence spectroscopy to detect and quantify TiO2 in fillings used in the pastry and confectionery industry. In this study, two types of fillings were investigated, vanilla‐based and chocolate‐based. All fillings were prepared in four different variations – without and with 0.25 g/kg, 0.5 g/kg, or 0.75 g/kg TiO2 per sample. The methods were selected for their ability to analyze the samples in a short period of time.RESULTSAll methods showed moderate to high potential for detecting TiO2 in the samples. The results reveal how TiO2 affects the food matrix color and texture. Use of Raman microscopy confirms its detectability, although concentrations of TiO2 do not follow a pattern. X‐ray fluorescence spectroscopy showed the greatest potential as it can not only detect TiO2 but also quantify its concentration in the samples.CONCLUSIONSThe highest potential for quantifying the concentration of this food additive was achieved with X‐ray fluorescence spectroscopy.This article is protected by copyright.
