Rogue waves in space dusty plasmas

Abstract: The modulational instability of dust-acoustic (DA) waves (DAWs), and corresponding DA rogue waves (DARWs) in a realistic space dusty plasma system (containing inertial warm positively and negatively charged dust, isothermal ions, and nonthermal kappa distributed electrons) has been theoretically investigated. The nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation is derived by using reductive perturbation method for this investigation. It is observed that the dusty plasma system under consideration supports two modes, namel… Show more

“…From Literature, it can be manifested that small value of κ represents a hard spectrum, and when κ is small then the movement of the plasma particles is larger then the large value of κ. So, the nonlinearity of the plasma medium increases with the decrease of κ, and this result agrees with the result of Chowdhury et al [11] work. The nature of the amplitude and the width of the DARWs is also governed by plasma parameters µ i and σ, and their effects can be observed from Figs.…”

“…The plot of P/Q against k yields stable and unstable parametric regimes of the DAWs. The point, at which the transition of P/Q curve intersect with k-axis, is known as threshold or critical wave number k (= k c ) [18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25]. The governing equation for highly energetic DARWs in the modulationally unstable parametric regime (P/Q > 0) can be written as [26,27,28,29,30]…”

“…A number of authors have considered a more general case in which the two ion species have different temperatures, masses, and charge multiplicities in PIPM. Isothermal [13][14][15] and adiabatic ion fluids [9][10][11] are relevant in many plasma situations. We have considered an adiabatic ion fluid but not isothermal ions.…”

“…[7][8][9][10][11] The existence of positive ions in MPPs drastically alters charge neutrality condition, [12] the dispersive property, [2] non-linearity of the IAWs, [12] etc. The adiabaticity of the ion fluid significantly modifies the basic features of non-linear structures like solitary, [15,16] shock, [17] and rogue [13] waves, etc. Isothermal [13][14][15] and adiabatic ion fluids [9][10][11] are relevant in many plasma situations.…”
