The article focuses on the research conducted by the staff the Palaeo Art Centre of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Science on the comprehensive documentation and study of rock art sites from various regions of Russia. During the years 2014-2022, rock art projects were successfully implemented in Russia, including its most remote parts, such as South Ural, Transbaikalia and the Amur region. Our report will focus on two important projects: Petroglyphs of the Lower Amur and Ussuri (Far East, the Amur region) and Kapova cave (South Ural). These monuments have been nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage List and in 2014-2021 significant efforts were made to promote these rock art sites as cultural heritage and to research with use of new remote approaches to documenting and subsequent processing of data of rock art.

Настоящее издание является продолжением сборника с аналогичным названием под номером 1 и посвящено памяти Екатерины Георгиевны Дэвлет, выдающегося исследователя наскального искусства. Сборник содержит статьи-воспоминания и фотоматериалы о Е.Г.Дэвлет, ее последние статьи (с соавторами) и список публикаций, а также статьи коллег и друзей по различным аспектам исследования ранних форм искусства: пещерного, наскального, монументального и декоративно-прикладного. Публикуются новые материалы приводятся результаты анализа изобразительных традиций, атрибуции и интерпретации отдельных категорий объектов рассматриваются вопросы технологии создания произведений древнего и средневекового искусства и методики их исследования. Представлен широкий спектр опыта полевого и кабинетного исследования, охватывающего как фундаментальные проблемы раннего искусства, так и прикладные аспекты, включая методы документирования, а также использование естественнонаучных методов. Also, the typicality of the engraved rock art throughout Lianyungang includes whereas cup-shaped cupules are mainly in Jiangjunya; and other cupules are mostly "shallow cupules" which is associated with upper Neolithic people culture in the Southeastern Coast of China (Wenjing 2019).…”

Danigala Rock is a unique geological site situated near Kandegama at Polonnaruwa district. The aerial view of the rock shows a semi-circular shape, which was affected by geological weathering. The northwest slope part of Danigala inselberg has interesting petroglyphs discovered in Chithra Lena (7°41'0.44"N | 81°12'45.66"E). These symbols are relatively new and, for the first time, discovered in Sri Lanka during an archaeoastronomical survey conducted by Eco Astronomy Sri Lanka in a corporation with Central Cultural Fund (Polonnaruwa-Alahana Parivena Project). These petroglyphs, now perceived and assessed as art, are mute science prints of ancient cultural vestiges of a bygone society. The predominant forms found are partially similar with few forms found in some sites in Sri Lanka, but with distinct differences in the engraving process. Notably, samples of the bind rune coding of Danigala petroglyphs are quite similar to bind rune's symbols of Shamanic cultures. Besides, the engraving technique is remarkably similar to the technique used in the petroglyphs of Edakkal Caves in India. This paper is an attempt to document and analyze this bind rune coding in purpose to uncover the archaeoastronomical meaning and the historical beliefs.
