Robust Design of PID Controller Using IMC Technique for Integrating Process Based on Maximum Sensitivity

Abstract: The aim of this work was to obtain a design for the proportional integral derivative controller in series with a second-order lead/lag filter for pure integrating process with time delay based on internal model control principle to achieve efficient disturbance rejection and robustness. A setpoint filter is introduced to reduce the overshoot in the setpoint response. Further, the robustness of the controller is examined by incorporating perturbations in the time delay parameter for model mismatch. The proposed… Show more

“…1,2 As a result, maintaining output volume and lowering energy consumption depend greatly on the steady regulation of clinker cooling process. [3][4][5][6][7] The impact of clinker cooling and heat recovery is influenced by the grate cooler pressure, [8][9][10][11] which serves as a crucial parameter and illustrates the equilibrium relationship between hot material and cool air. [12][13][14] The temperature of the clinker was initially measured using thermocouples in grate coolers in order to properly cool the clinker, and the air pressure was then adjusted.…”

“…They gave formulas for both servo and regulatory aims, separately. 14 Panyam Vuppu et al 15 proposed a design technique for PID controller cascaded with a second-order lead/lag filter based on internal model control (IMC) structure for obtaining effective regulatory response and improved robustness for PIPDT processes. Ajmeri and Ali 16 designed two controllers in parallel control structure (PCS), which is developed by Karunagaran and Wenjian, 17 for a set of integrating processes.…”
