Robust control of shunt active power filter using interval type-2 fuzzy logic controller for power quality improvement

Abstract: Original scientific paper It is well-known that shunt active power filter (SAPF) is widely used to reduce harmonic distortion and to compensate reactive power in electrical power systems. DC bus voltage control of SAPF is very important for excellent power quality. In the control of SAPF, DC bus voltage is controlled by conventional control methods such as PI and PID controllers. However, these controllers cannot give good results under transient and steady state conditions. Robust and intelligent controllers … Show more

“…In the study [21], the PV system with a battery was connected in parallel with the grid and the inverter of PV provided harmonic compensation to the grid using the active-reactive power control. In [22], active harmonic filtering was performed by using type-2 fuzzy control method. The active-reactive power control of the inverter was done by the passivity-based method in the article [23], it was made by the incremental conductance method in [24].…”

“…When the literature is examined, it can be seen that ANNs are used to solve many problems in different fields such as engineering, business and etc. [28][29][30][31][32]. Also ANNs are used for modeling, predicting, classification, control of complex systems, etc.…”

“…The most important objective for the use of parallel active power filters is to overcome load current harmonics. In addition, reactive power compensation and three-phase current balancing are also carried out [6]. The general structure of voltage source PAPF is shown in The basic principle of PAPF is to inject currents in reverse phase and equal magnitude to the grid in order to eliminate the harmonics of load current and to perform reactive power compensation.…”
