Robust Control of Doubly Fed Induction Generator Using Fractional Order Control

Abstract: In this paper, we present a robust control of a variable speed Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)-based Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS), using Fractional Order Control (FOC) to prevent system deterioration under different critical conditions (external disturbance, measurement noise and DFIG parameters variation). In order to extract the maximum power from the wind, a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) strategy based on rotor speed control is proposed. Furthermore, a vector control strategy is used for… Show more

“…In [28], a new method is proposed to control the active and reactive powers of DFIG using fractional-order sliding mode control (FOSMC) strategy. In [29], field-oriented control was proposed based on the fractional-order PI controllers to control the active and reactive power of DFIG.…”

“…The generic form of the translation action of the plant was = + 1 − − − − − − − (16) where T and K are constants. In this sector, two distinct assessors are discussed as ensures: − − − − − ( )Design Stipulation:A tune method for PI assessorand FOPIassessor[6] is proposed. We adopt the gain crossover frequency, Wc and phase margin ɸm to be co equal for the pair of assessors. For the system cohesion and vitality the following restraints are considered∅ Where G(jw) is the open loop translation action of the system,c(jw) is the assessor translation action and P(jw) is the plant translation action.…”

“…Very recently, the fractional control concept has appeared as a powerful algorithm to ensure the system's performance even in cases of presence of the parameter uncertainties and external disturbances 32,33 . The projection of this concept on the standard PI controllers led birth to the fractional‐order proportional integral (FOPI) controllers, which have a similar structure to PI controllers, but the integer order of integral action is replaced by the fractional‐order 33‐35 .…”
