Abstract:The emergence of multidrug-resistant pathogens poses
a threat to
public health and requires new antimicrobial agents. As the archetypal
glycopeptide antibiotic (GPA) used against drug-resistant Gram-positive
pathogens, vancomycin provides a promising starting point. Peripheral
