Human task performance with teleoperation systems is characterized by long task completion times, handling errors, and excessive force application to objects in the remote environment. Haptic interfaces promise to address these challenges by providing the human user with sensory feedback from the remote environment that would otherwise be lacking. Until now, only few attempts have been made to present current research efforts from a broader, more integrative perspective. To address this need, several meta-analyses were conducted, which aimed at establishing the overall effectiveness of haptic interfaces in improving the critical performance aspects in teleoperation systems. In this context, the influence of potential moderator variables (i.e., virtual versus real teleoperation setup; vibrotactile versus kinaesthetic force feedback) as well as outcome-specific effects (i.e., force regulation ability; task completion time; performance errors) were investigated.

Abstract. A mobile robot was designed and simulated for the inspection of electrical lines, which seeks to investigate alternatives that have the main necessary characteristics to perform these inspection tasks and implement them in a robot of accessible costs. In the robot design was modeled its mechanical parts in 3D and then previously taken to a virtual simulation software (Vrep), in which the sequence of movements were programmed, to pass obstacles.

This paper presents the current state of the art in mobile robots used on power transmission lines. Many theoretical and experimental studies have been conducted in order to develop autonomous machines to travel along transmission lines to perform inspection and/or repair work. These machines can improve efficiency, reduce labour costs and are expected to reduce the risk of injury to maintenance personnel. Despite there already being a number of pieces of theoretical research and technological developments in this area, problems related to stability, ability and autonomy still exist. As such, first this paper presents the main studies already carried out and the devices generally used on power transmission lines. After the latest trends have been presented, a new idea for module robots carrying out inspections/maintenance of power transmission lines is presented. Finally, the future of mobile robots applied to power transmission lines is discussed.
