“…More recently, robotic assisted approaches to these operations have been increasingly described with early series reporting varying techniques and outcomes (7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12). Larger single institution series, including from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and others, have reported systematic approaches in the development of a robotic assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE) program yielding excellent outcomes with increasing proficiency over the course of the learning curve (13)(14)(15).…”

“…A total of three such papers have been published 10, 11, 12. Respectively, numbers of patients were 18, 23, and 40; mean operative time, estimated blood loss, hospital stay, and lymph node yield were 279 min (231–311), 88 mL (54–100), 9.2 days (9–10), and 17 (14–20).…”

“…Several authors gave perspectives on the use of robotics for esophagectomy including robotic-assisted transhiatal esophagectomy being preformed by surgeons from the USA [2], and roboticassisted surgery for thoracic esophageal cancer currently being carried out in Japan [3]. Such techniques may allow for better visualization of critical structures during surgery and a quicker recovery time for patients.…”
