Abstract: Background: Sexual assault survivors are at increased risk for sexually transmitted infections. Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner programs guide sexually transmitted infection treatment, monitoring, and follow-up scheduling according to guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
