Show more

“…The two main methods to achieve net zero are the use of low carbon cement and lime raw materials [improvement by 69%] and switching to renewable energy sources together with effi ciency improvements within AAC manufacturing factories -improvement by 13% (14). Production effi ciency can be improved due to renewable energy sources for supply autoclaves, dryers, shrink-wrapping units, and forklifts.…”

“…When developing an EPD environmental declaration for the entire life cycle of a product, it is necessary to specify the life span of the product. At present, both the autoclaved aerated concrete road map developed by the European Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Association and the British Precast Concrete Federation's environmental declaration clearly indicate that the AAC life cycle should be 150 years [10][11]. The conditions affecting exposed AAC masonry walls primarily include contact with carbon dioxide CO 2 contained in the air.…”

“…It means that each kilogram of calcium oxide-CaO can absorb ca. 786 g of CO 2 .Based on Energy Roadmap developed for autoclaved aerated concrete[1], the average emission of CO 2 in phases A1-A3 (from the moment of obtaining a raw material until the ready products leave the manufacturing plant) of the environmental product declaration EPD is 180 kg CO 2 per 1 m 3 of autoclaved aerated concrete. According to the Energy Roadmap CO 2 emission from producing raw materials used for the production of cement and lime contributes to 74% of total emission of CO 2 in phases A1-A3 of autoclaved aerated concrete life cycle.…”
