RKKY interaction of magnetic impurities in multi-Weyl semimetals

Abstract: We have systematically investigated the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) interaction between two magnetic impurities in Weyl semimetals with arbitrary monopole charge Q. We find that the RKKY interaction becomes intrinsically anisotropic for Q ≥ 2, and its dependence on Fermi energy and impurity separation is directly controlled by the monopole charge. With the increase of Q, the RKKY interaction becomes more long-ranged and more anisotropic, which makes interesting magnetic orders easier to form and thus … Show more

“…In Figure 1c, the resistivity at zero field exhibits a Kondo-like shape above T N , suggesting that the carriers are strongly scattered by the local magnetic moments of Eu. While the Kondo effect and the RKKY interaction in DSMs and WSMs have been studied theoretically, [38][39][40][41][42] our results suggest that EuCd 2 As 2 can be a platform to study them experimentally.…”

“…The RKKY interaction in Weyl and Dirac semimetals has been studied theoretically throughout recent years [24][25][26][27]. To our knowledge, previous studies focused mainly on addressing interactions between localized spins immersed into the bulk of these exotic materials.…”
