In order to explore the mechanism of urban residents ' risk perception on ride-pooling intention under the background of public health crisis, based on the moderated mediation effect model, this paper explores the relationship between residents ' risk perception, ride-pooling attitude and ride-pooling intention through correlation analysis and mediation effect analysis, and uses bootstrap test to analyze the moderating effect of gender and residence risk level. The results show that: (1) There is a significant negative correlation between risk perception and the two dimensions of ride-pooling attitude and intention; there is a significant positive correlation between ride-pooling attitude and ride-pooling intention. (2) The attitude of ride-pooling plays a complete mediating role between risk perception and ride-pooling intention. (3) The direct predictive effect of risk perception on ride-pooling intention and the mediating effect of ride-pooling attitude will not be regulated by gender. The direct predictive effect of risk perception on ride-pooling intention will be regulated by the risk level of residence. Based on the above research results, some suggestions on epidemic prevention measures and platform management are put forward to provide reference for urban governance and ride-pool optimization.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine meaning in life as an important resource during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach This paper summarized key research establishing links between meaning in life and mental health and well-being variables, reviewed the literature on meaning as a protective factor and meaning-making as a coping mechanism amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as provided focal points in cultivating meaning in life. Findings Studies strongly support the notion that meaning in life is essential for health and well-being. Research also suggests that meaning protects against worsening mental health, and that engaging in meaning-making is a coping process that ultimately leads to improved adjustment despite the stressors of the COVID-19 pandemic. Eight themes are also identified in cultivating skills to build meaning during adverse times. Practical implications Integrating what research has found about meaning, resilience and coping can help individuals develop practical strategies to cultivate meaning in their lives to support themselves and their communities during stressful times. Originality/value Understanding the ways in which meaning can support individuals’ health and well-being is critical during a global upheaval such as that of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Authenticity Mediates the Relationship between Risk Perception of COVID-19 and Subjective Well-Being: A Daily Diary Study

The present research investigated whether risk perception of COVID-19 relates to subjective well-being and the mediating role of authenticity in this association. We conducted a 12-day daily diary study with 133 undergraduates (Mage = 19.9 years, SD = 1.27 years; 64 females). Participants self-reported risk perception of COVID-19, authenticity, and subjective well-being every day. Results revealed that (1) risk perception of COVID-19 was negatively related to subjective well-being at the interindividual level; (2) authenticity mediated the relationship between risk perception of COVID-19 and subjective well-being at the interindividual level but not at the intraindividual level. In general, findings suggested that risk perception of COVID-19 is negatively related to subjective well-being only at the interindividual level, and authenticity plays a mediating role in this relationship. The finding suggested that keeping authenticity is a good strategy for avoiding the disruption caused by COVID-19. Longitudinal studies on samples with a broader age range, larger sample size, and extended sociodemographic background, as well as experimental studies, should be conducted to explore the causal relationship among interested variables that the current research has not detected.
