“…The present study demonstrated a 75.9% correlation between the Pap test and LEEP and an 80.2% correlation between the Pap test and colposcopically‐directed biopsy, which is consistent with other studies from high‐income countries [9,15,16]. Notably, the biopsy procedure does lead to a delay in the patient receiving definitive treatment.…”

“…Dennis et al found 71% correlation between colposcopy without biopsy and histopathology at LEEP (5). Furthermore, Massad et al (6) and Berdischevsky et al (7) showed a 70–75% correlation between HSIL on Pap smear and HSIL at directed biopsy, while other studies reported 75–85% correlation between Pap and LEEP (7), (8).…”

“…Similar findings were reported in a retrospective analysis of a prospectively collected database of females undergoing colposcopy in an urban clinic, and it was found that only 15% cases with abnormal Pap smears had high-grade CIN. [5] According to the present study the early age of first sexual intercourse did not prove to be a significant factor in causing abnormal Pap smears. However, in another observational study conducted on patients referred to a colposcopy clinic over a decade, 66.7% of the adolescents who had sexual intercourse before the age of 16 years had moderate or severe dyskaryosis in their Pap smear analysis.…”
