“…Physical self-satisfaction is associated with multiple positive outcomes: It has been observed that a positive general physical self-concept is related to the degree and type of involvement in physical activity (Beasley & Garn, 2013), subjective psychological well-being (such as self-confidence or selfesteem; Brechan & Kvalem, 2015;Crocker, Sabiston, Kowalski, McDonough, & Kowalski, 2006;Ramos, 2016), life satisfaction among adolescents or young adults (Goñi & Infante, 2010), and lower depression and anxiety scores among a sample of adults (Van de Vliet et al, 2002). By contrast, a negative physical self-concept has been associated with eating disorders (Rodríguez-Fernández & Goñi, 2012) and difficulty with sport-related behaviors (Ç aglar & Aşçi, 2006;Cumming et al, 2011). Negative physical self-perception is also related to risky behaviors, such as cigarette smoking (Crocker et al, 2001; ) and alcohol and other substance use (Andrew, Tiggemann, & Clark, 2016;Rodriguez & Audrain-McGovern, 2005).…”
