“…The data were a convenience sample from providers who agreed to share their data with NIOSH, and our sample may not be representative of all noise‐exposed workers, especially within industries like Construction where audiometric testing is not required. However, estimates from other studies utilizing random samples have yielded mostly similar results [Tak and Calvert, ; Helmkamp et al, ]. Hearing loss can be determined from an audiogram but the work‐relatedness of the loss can only be inferred in the absence of additional information.…”

“…The findings from this study can potentially contribute to the overarching research objectives for the next decade (2016–2026) listed by the Transportation Warehouse and Utilities (TWU) council of the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) [38,39]. NORA’s objectives from the past decade (2006–2016) have encouraged researchers to focus on discovering solutions to emerging issues regarding worker safety and occupational health [40,41,42,43]. It is evident that it is imperative for wastewater workers to comply with PPE regulations due to the different occupational exposures that are associated with the wastewater industry.…”

Health studies of commercial truck drivers have been conducted at trade shows or other gatherings [Korelitz et al, ; Wood et al, ].…”
