“…The etiology is not clear, but the main potential factors include hormones, biomechanics, post-traumatic or degenerative diseases, pre-pregnancy low back pain history, and psychosocial factors [1]. The prevalence of low back pain during pregnancy has been reported to range from 20-90%, with most studies reporting a prevalence greater than 50% [2][3][4]. Pain becomes very serious with the progress of pregnancy, which has a great impact on the daily life and sleep of pregnant women, and seriously reduces their quality of life [5][6][7][8], It also increases the risk of postpartum anxiety and depression [9].…”

Pain is a common complaint during pregnancy, especially lower back pain and abdominal pain [ 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 , 30 , 31 ]. Pain can be relieved by analgesics or by nonpharmacological interventions [ 32 , 33 , 34 ].…”

“…Despite this, it is often written off as a normal experience during pregnancy and mostly overlooked by healthcare professions [2], thus remaining untreated in many women. Studies show that among postnatal women if LBP is left untreated, it can even persist after delivery [3] and is likely to cause depression, sleep problems, fatigue and a general inability to perform activities daily functional activities especially those that involve carrying or lifting [4][5][6]. Several studies suggest that LBP is a major contributor to poor quality of life among pregnant women [7] and is one of the factors responsible to limitations in work and accomplishment of domestic tasks, social life and leisure activities [8]; also collectively called functional disability.…”
