The insufficient flexibility of the hybrid renewable integrated energy system (HRIES) causes renewable power curtailment and weak operational performance. The regulation potential of flexible buildings is an effective method for handling this problem. This paper builds a regulation model of flexible heat load according to the dynamic heat characteristics and heat comfort elastic interval of the buildings, as well as a regulation model of the flexible electrical load based on its transferability, resectability, and rigidity. An operation optimization model, which incorporates flexible regulation of multiple loads and a variable load of devices, is then developed. A case study is presented to analyze the regulation and synergy mechanisms of different types of loads. Its results show a saturation effect between heat and electrical loads in increasing renewable energy consumption and a synergistic effect in decreasing the operating cost. This synergy can reduce the operating cost by 0.73%. Furthermore, the operating cost can be reduced by 15.13% and the curtailment rate of renewable energy can be decreased by 12.08% when the flexible electrical and heat loads are integrated into the operation optimization of HRIES.

Integrated demand response contributes to flexibility improvement in multi-energy system. Yet, the challenge posed by the load estimation mistake needs to be addressed to explore the available flexibility. In this paper, we present a price-based nonlinear integrated demand response for multi-energy microgrid against estimation mistakes of both electricity and gas loads. Among them, we develop a period partition method to describe load characteristics and reach a reasonable time-of-use pricing. Besides, a credibility theory-based risk measurement is presented to evaluate the uncertain wind power. Finally, case studies demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method in flattening load curve, reducing operation cost and promoting the accommodation of wind power.INDEX TERMS Credibility, flexibility, integrated demand response, load mistake, multi-energy system.

In this paper, the optimal operation of Energy hub (EH) based upon both demand and renewable energy resources (RESs) uncertainties is investigated. Here, an innovative scenario‐based energy hub energy management system (EH‐EMS) is proposed for simultaneous cost and emission reduction considering the abovementioned uncertainties. Moreover, a multi objective hybrid heuristic algorithm, the so‐called hBES‐MOGWO, is introduced for solving the proposed EH‐EMS, which is a combination of bald eagle search (BES) and multi objective gray wolf optimization (MOGWO) algorithms. The proposed EH consists of photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine (WT), boiler, heat storage (HS),combined heat and power (CHP) and multi‐carrier energy storage technology such as power to gas (PtG) technology, electric vehicles and heat storages. Flexible loads are also taken into account for reducing cost and emission by participation in demand response programs (DRPs). The optimization results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed hBES‐MOGWO algorithm. The simulation results illustrated that the total cost of EH‐EMS can be effectively reduced by installing energy storage systems and implementing DRPs. The results emphasize that considering uncertainties can lead to increase the operating costs and emission, while flexible loads participation in DRPs and PtG can reduce the aforementioned ones.
