The steel plate Grade S355GT st52 of KAR Group is used for the construction of storage tanks for oil works in KAR storage tanks. In this study we have found out the chemical and physical changes of the welded steel plate after the damage happened due to the ISIS attack in Bai-Hassan in Kirkuk. After receiving the samples of burned and heated steel plates, it has been machined the samples for tensile, hardness, chemical analysis and microstructural analysis. The plate thickness is reduced in certain areas of the plate due to oxidation at high temperatures of the material occurred especially at the weld area and the thickness of the plate is found to be between 13 and 18 mm. Due to the coarsening of the microstructure and the development of Widmanstatten ferrite which is a weak and undesirable microstructure has been seen in the microstructure of this steel. Extraction of Acoustic Emission (AE) signal features (magnitude, power, hit, time period and rise period varies with time and the relation between them) will use for identifying the corrosion level and diagnosing the type of corrosion of the steel plates of oil storage tank, and moreover to measure the corrosion severity of the complete storage tank.

The transition from time-based inspection to risk-based inspection (RBI) in Malaysian industry began in June 2014 with the gazette of Factories and Machinery (Special Scheme of Inspection) (Risk-Based Inspection) Regulations 2014 (SSI 2014). Under the new regulations, owners shall express their commitment and provide proof of their ability to ensure safety, integrity, and operability of relevant equipment. The regulation does not prescriptively mention methods to implement the RBI approach, but does spell out minimum requirements. Upon successful demonstration of compliance to the authority, the Certificate of Fitness of pressurized equipment may be extended to maximum 72 months.This paper aims to establish the benefits which may accrue from the adoption of RBI approach and ascertain the potential difficulties associated with the implementation of this approach. The paper first presents a review of the literature, establishing the major reasons for, and the benefits of, RBI implementation. This is followed by the results of a Malaysian survey on the implementation of RBM approach. An audit was conducted in the Malaysian petrochemical and chemical industries in April 2016. The audit results highlight the reasons for and benefits of implementing RBI. The paper concludes with a discussion and recommendations for the implementation of the RBI approach.

Resumo Testes destrutivos e não-destrutivos são a base para a compreensão das propriedades físicas da falha do material, esses testes são feitos durante a fabricação de gasodutos ou líquidos, para que se possa identificar quais níveis ou padrões de pressão devem ser evitados. Além disso, uma vez que o sistema é submetido a alta pressão, qualquer pequeno defeito pode se propagar e ter sérias consequências, portanto, uma identificação e análise adequadas de um defeito é de extrema importância e deve ser resolvido rapidamente. Métodos na literatura usam o fato de que tal sistema emite ondas acústicas e tentam determinar o grau de perigo com a ajuda de um especialista. Este artigo propõe então usar um modelo de rede neural feedforward parcialmente autônomo para determinar quanto perigo esse defeito representa ao tentar separá-lo em três classes: Sem Propagação, Propagação Estável e Propagação Instável. A obtenção de uma possível taxa de classificação de 82.9% indica que essa ferramenta pode ser usada para ajudar especialistas com facilidade.
