Risk Assessment and Prevention of Surface Subsidence under Buildings by Cemented Paste Filling and Strip Mining Methods: A Case Study

Abstract: Intensive and continuous mining of coal resources in China implies their gradual exhaustion, especially in the eastern regions. While some mines face closure, others have to extract residual coal resources under buildings, water bodies, and industrial sites. Thus, safe and efficient mining of the residual coal resources requires innovative techniques, which would account for the particular site’s geological conditions. In this study, two schemes of roadway mining with cemented paste backfilling (RMCPB) and str… Show more

“…In the past, some scholars have studied the coal mining scheme under high-voltage pylons or other buildings [37][38][39][40][41], but its limitations are reflected in two aspects. First, the number of high-voltage pylons or buildings involved is very small: only 1~2.…”

“…As the filling rate of the filling body increases, the displacement shrinks with the increase of the advancing distance, the displacement space of the mined-out area decreases, the overburden fissure development height decreases, and the place where collapse will occur is effectively limited. Increasing the filling rate has a better contribution of limiting displacement throughout the mining process 37 .…”
