Performance management helps organizations to ensure that they are on the right path. Thus, this requires increasing the ability of organizations to understand their own key indicators to manage and measure their performance. The purpose of this study is to determine the key performance indicators used in Saudi Arabian telecommunication companies. Moreover, it examines whether these indicators impact the overall performance of Saudi Arabian telecommunication companies. This study adopted a quantitative method based on a survey questionnaire. Participants were reached through human resources officers in the telecommunication companies. Questionnaires were distributed to 247 employees at middle and top management levels in Saudi Arabian telecommunication companies using a convenience sampling technique. However, 212 responses were returned completely filled with a response rate of 85.8%. This study used statistical software of SPSS and SmartPLS for data analysis. The results revealed that customer satisfaction, delivery reliability, learning and growth, employee satisfaction, cost, financial performance, flexibility, and quality are the key indicators used in Saudi Arabian telecommunication companies to measure performance. The results also revealed that customer satisfaction, delivery reliability, learning and growth, employee satisfaction, cost, financial performance, flexibility, and quality have an impact on the overall performance of Saudi Arabian telecommunication companies. These indicators can be used to determine the state of organizations, help measure the implementation of strategies, evaluate the organization’s current performance, design strategies for improvement, and evaluate organization’s departments and employees. Nowadays, maintenance performance in organizations has become compelling due to competitiveness in the global market and the inclusion of more legislation issues (such as safety and health regulations) in assessments. In this article, the purpose is to formulate in maintenance problem for a food processing unit as a multicriteria problem and solve it using the evaluation based on distance from the average solution (EDAS) method. To attain this purpose, the authors defined a set of weighted criteria and a set of alternatives, and the solution is the alternative that scores the best in those criteria. Consequently, analysis was done based on the EDAS method and the calculated results from the literature data. Consequently, the parameters considered include the frequency of failure, MTBF, MTTF and MTTR while availability is the response. The EDAS method was used to select the best alternative (MTTR, 0.8802) and this score of 0.8802 is for an alternative. The chief novelty of this article is the unique introduction of an innovative EDAS method, which requires only two measures of the desirability of alternative (positive and negative distances from the average solution) but excluded the evaluation of the idea and nadir solutions for the key performance indicators of maintenance. Consequently, this study initiates a maintenance plan for the food industry referring to the key performance indicators as a cause for poor availability of equipment in the Nigerian food industry.

Los sistemas de gestión de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo han evolucionado en las últimas décadas, principalmente por las regulaciones legales impulsadas por los gobiernos nacionales, fomentando con ello la generación de políticas públicas de empleo. El cumplimiento y desarrollo de los sistemas de gestión permite impulsar y ejecutar diferentes métodos de medición de la gestión y el desempeño de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo; sin embargo, existen limitaciones y fallas relacionadas con estos componentes. Este artículo tuvo como propósito presentar los resultados de una revisión sistemática que indaga por las estrategias de medición del desempeño de los sistemas de gestión por medio de la conceptualización del desempeño y su aplicación, la presentación de métodos que se han documentado en la literatura para dicha medición, así como los de mayor uso y sus principales ventajas, desventajas y la eficacia de estos. Para ello, se revisó la literatura de treinta y ocho artículos publicados entre 2002-2021 en Science Direct, Scielo, Pubmed y Redalyc, lo que permitió identificar sesenta y un aspectos relacionados con el desempeño de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo y siete modelos de medición del desempeño. De acuerdo con la estructura y necesidades de las organizaciones, se establece que estas pueden utilizar métodos específicos para la medición del desempeño de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo; no obstante, algunos métodos o herramientas presentan niveles elevados de complejidad y metodologías de evaluación que no pueden ser aplicadas por las pequeñas y medianas empresas, mientras que otros instrumentos, como la herramienta diagnóstica de la gestión de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo integra diferentes componentes que facilitan un seguimiento riguroso a la gestión de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo con un enfoque de medición superior para cualquier tipo de organización.
