“…The incidence per 100,000 inhabitants in the state of Rio Grande do Sul was calculated using the numerator composed of probable and confirmed cases, while the denominator corresponds to the total population classified by age group, race/ethnicity, and sex. Calculation of incidence by sexual orientation followed the criteria discussed in a previous investigation (POLIDORO et al, 2021), which established an estimate of 3% for the homosexual population and 3% for the bisexual population, in accordance with other estimated procedures identified in previous research (LAUMANN et al, 1994;BELOQUI, 2008) All data were processed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26, and the maps were generated using ArcMap 10.3 software by georeferencing the data, specifically the total number of notification records and the notification rate per 100,000 residents.…”

“…Prevalence rates of STD and AIDS among sexually active groups are highest among men who have sex with men (MSM) 2 , and YMSM tend to initiate sexual activities at an earlier age and have a greater number of partners than heterossexuals 3 . Beloqui 4 highlights that genital-anal contact is anatomically more traumatic and this increases vulnerability to STD.…”
