“…The annual rates for death and complications in this Mediterranean population were lower than those published in Anglo‐Saxon countries (19–23,26,27,30) except for the mortality rates observed in the UKPDS epidemiological study in which patients were younger (53 years) than those in our study (60 years) (30).
