Richard-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire Validity and Reliability Study

Abstract: To evaluate the reliability and validity of Richard-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire Turkish version. Materials and Methods: The scale was administered in 50 patients to evaluate the sleep quality and in 50 patients to evaluate the testretest reliability. Percentage distribution and average evaluation of the data, factor analysis, Pearson's correlation test, Cronbach's α reliability coefficient were used for analysis. Results: The majority of study participants were male (70.0%), married (96.0%), literate-primary … Show more

“…This scale was developed by Richards. The reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the RCSQ were studied by Karaman Özlü and Özer 30 . The RCSQ consists of six items evaluating depth of nocturnal sleep, sleep latency, frequency of awakening, time to sleep resumption, quality of sleep, and environmental noise.…”

“…Each item is rated on a chart including points between 0 and 100. “A total mean score between “0–25” refers to very poor sleep, a total mean score between “26–75” refers to moderate sleep, and total mean score between “76–100” indicates very good sleep.” A Turkish validity and reliability study of the scale was conducted by Özlü and Özer 26 . While the Cronbach's alpha value for the total scale was 0.82 in the study by Richards, the Turkish version of the scale was 0.91.…”
