Rice Yield Loss and Economic Threshold Levels by Densities of Scirpus planiculmis and Lindernia dubia in Wet-Seeded Rice Paddy Fields

Abstract: This study was conducted to find the levels of reduction in rice yield and to determine economic threshold levels as affected by densities of Scirpus planiculmis and Lindernia dubia in wet seeding rice cultivation. In wet seeding rice cultivation, yield of rice in densities of S. planiculmis (192 per m 2) and L. dubia (384 per m 2) was reduced by 43 and 22%, respectively. Relationship between rice yield and densities of weeds were predicted with these equations of Y=531.3kg/(1+0.003931x), r 2 =0.964 for S. pla… Show more

“…A decrease of 51-64% in yield of DSR was recorded when 100-200 plants m -2 of the weed were maintained (Sultana, 2000). Kwon, Moon, Kuk, Kim, and Kim (2006) also noticed a rice yield decrease of 11 to 74% and 1 to 12% because of 5 to 100 plants m -2 of E. crus-galli and M. vaginalis in the DSR, respectively. Abdullah Al Mamun (2014) calculated the ETL (economic threshold level) of multi-weed species as 4.72-9.17 plants m -2 which influenced yield deciding attributes of DSR like the number of panicles (m -2 ), number of grains panicle -1 , and 1000-grain weight because of weed-crop competition.…”

“…Pada musim hujan ataupun musim kering, Famili Linderniaceae dapat terus hidup sehingga memiliki daya adaptasi yang tinggi. Menurut Kwon et al (2011), ambang ekonomi yang diperlukan saat pengendalian Lindernia dubia yaitu pada kerapatan 384 individu per-m 2 . Menurut metode Cousens kepadatan ambang ekonomi L. dubia yaitu sebesar 34,9 per-m 2 .…”

“…In Europe, it is considered to be a potential plant for widespread expansion ( Hroudová et al., 2014 ). Previous studies have determined the economic threshold of S. planiculmis in rice fields ( Kwon et al., 2008 ; Kwon et al., 2011 ) and screened chemical control agents ( Choi et al., 2000b ; Hwang et al., 2006 ; Park et al., 2011 ). However, with changes in cropping systems and cultivation patterns, S. planiculmis has become a major weed in cotton fields in Xinjiang and the Yellow River basin in China ( Fang et al., 2016 ; Huang et al., 2020 ), leading to cotton yield reductions of 1.86−61.50% ( Cai et al, 2020a ).…”
