“…In recent decades both SCC and fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) were vital innovations in the field of concrete technology [18]. SCC has the unease of bleeding and segregation, if not properly proportioned [20], while FRC has the issue of diminished workability thereby effecting its placement in thin sections and congested reinforcement locations [29]. SCC, is an outstanding solution for precast plants, as well, due to high-quality control that can be ensured in the precast concrete production plants [32].…”

“…This contradicts with the outcome of the study [26] stating that 1% AR fibres incorporation improves the durability performance of concrete [28], hence further research may be required to ascertain the effects of AR fibres in SCC. The studies conducted on AR glass fibre inclusion in concrete on mechanical characteristics like compression, flexural strength tests, free shrinkage (with and without air flow over the sample) and crack control tests termed that the addition of low quantities of fibre did not change the flowability and mechanical properties of concrete [29]. It was also established that marginal quantity of AR glass fibre displayed the highest cracking control, where it was noticed that the fibre efficiency was not increased at higher dosage of fibres [30].…”
