Rheological Behaviors of Graphene Oxide/Polyacrylonitrile Spinning Solutions

Abstract: The rheological behaviors of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) in NaSCN aqueous solutions containing different amount of Graphene oxide (GO) were investigated through both steady-state and dynamic rheological measurements. The parameters such as apparent viscosity (ηα), flow activation energy (Eη), structural viscosity index (Δη), storage modulus (G’), loss modulus (G’’) and mechanical loss factor (tanδ) were measured to illustrate the rheological behaviors of these solutions. The results showed that the apparent viscos… Show more

“…That was because CN bonds could be transformed into CN bonds conjugated with CC bonds during oxidative stabilization, which formed the frame of crosslinking structure in the stabilized films. The peaks centered at 2940, 1380, and 1470 cm −1 corresponded to CH bonds . The intensities of these peaks were decreased after GO addition, because the hydrogen was wiped off as H 2 O during the dehydrogenation and oxidation reactions.…”

“…The electronegativity groups such as carboxylic groups on GO sheets could initiate the nucleophilic attack to nitrile group of PAN macromolecules during heat treatment . Thus, GO could take part in the cyclization reaction of PAN macromolecules . The second was the in situ oxygen diffusion effect.…”
