Rheological and Electrical Study of a Composite Material Based on an Epoxy Polymer Containing Cyclotriphosphazene

Abstract: In this work, we have studied, formulated, prepared, and characterized the rheological and electrical behavior of a composite material based on an epoxy resin Diglycidyl Ether of Bisphenol A (DGEBA) reinforced with hexaglycidyl cyclotriphosphazene (HGCP). The epoxy system was cured with 4,4’-methylene dianiline (MDA). DGEBA-HGCP-MDA epoxy composite materials with reinforced HGCP which varied from 5% to 10% by weight were prepared by mixing in the molten state. The morphology was evaluated by SEM. The rheologic… Show more

“…The advantage of phosphazenes over other inorganic-organic flame retardants is the ease of their functionalization, which makes it possible to obtain compounds capable of reacting with polymers, in particular epoxy resins. This property of phosphazenes ensures their good dispersibility and compatibility with the polymer matrix without deteriorating the mechanical properties of the latter [37,38].…”

“…Addition of 5 wt.% hexaglycidylcyclotriphosphazene to a 4,4 -methylenedianiline cured bisphenol A (DHEBA) epoxy resin improves the mechanical properties of the resin Molecules 2023, 28, 6571 2 of 12 due to its increased flexural modulus and hardness and its electrical properties [23]. Cyclotriphosphazenes increase the fire resistance of polymers.…”
