“…Layer ReX 2 (X = S, Se) are of considerable interest for various applications due to their optical, electrical and mechanical properties. These applications include a sulfur-tolerant hydrogenation and hydrodesulfurization catalyst [3,4] and as a promising solar-cell material in electrochemical cells [5,6]. Unlike most of the layered TMDCs, ReX 2 crystallizes in a distorted CdCl 2 -type layer structure with triclinic symmetry.…”

“…The cluster bromide of niobium and chlorides of molybdenum, tantalum, and tungsten also showed catalytic activity for the isomerization of olefin. Although rhenium metal [58] and rhenium sulfides [59] have been reported to be hydrogenation catalysts, a rhenium cluster, Re 3 Cl 9 , had no catalytic activity under the same reaction conditions. The catalytic activity varied with the cluster catalyst employed; however, the cis/trans selectivities of 2-hexene remained in a relatively narrow range and the ratios are approximately in accord with that of thermal equilibrium (0.77 at 250 °C).…”

“…3) Owing to their unique optical, electrical, and mechanical properties, the layered-type compounds have attracted much attention in basic studies and applications. They can be used as a sulfur-tolerant hydrogenation, hydrodesulfurization catalyst, 4,5) a promising solar-cell material in electrochemical cells, 6,7) and a material for the fabrication of polarization-sensitive photodetectors in the visible wavelength region. 8) The optical anisotropy of ReS 2 with polarization along and perpendicular to the b-axis have been reported using polarization-dependent absorption, 9,10) piezoreflectance (PzR), and thermoreflectance (TR) experiments.…”
